Come explore the natural wonders of the Wintergarden/St. John’s Nature Preserve! Our nature camp offers a variety of activities to engage campers in the out-of-doors as they learn about plants and animals through hands-on lessons, hikes, games, and arts and crafts projects. Daily themes will engage the children and focus attention on specific nature subjects. Nature's Nursery, a local animal wildlife rehabilitation center, will visit with their animal ambassadors and an educational program.

This camp will engage youth in outdoor recreational activities through hikes, team challenges, and scavenger hunts. Being prepared and respectful while exploring our outdoor environments will be emphasized. Camp drop-off and pick-up locations will rotate throughout the week. This will include a day on the Slippery Elm Bike Trail. Campers will need a bike and helmet. Come out to Wintergarden/St. John's Nature Preserve and help to care for the park! Along the way we will see and learn about the plants and wildlife we are helping. Activities include seed collecting, planting of seeds and transplants, removal of weeds and trail maintenance. Activities may be cancelled if inclement weather prevents outdoor activities. Wearing long pants and sturdy shoes is advised.

This is a free, drop in partner program with Wood County District Public Library. Learn how easy, fun, and family friendly a geocaching adventure can be! Meet volunteer Beth Landers, who keeps the geocaching fun going at Wintergarden. She will explain geocaching guidelines and give us some pointers on getting started with this recreational activity.

Join the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department for monthly wildflower walks at Wintergarden/St. John's Nature Preserve on April 18, May 16, June 20, July 18 and August 15, 2024. Flowers come and go throughout the growing season, you should too! Hikes will last up to an hour and a half. No pre-registration is required and participants can come to one or all of the programs as schedules permit. Please wear weather appropriate clothing and shoes that allow for walking on our trails. Bring your young nature lover out for a visit to the nature preserve! The program includes a story, a short nature hike, a snack and a craft for the theme of the month. Topics for this spring include skunks, deer, spring wildflowers and turtles. This program is for preschool children ages 3 to 5 and their adult companion. As a family friendly, program you are welcome to bring additional younger siblings along for the ride.
